We are caught in a loop.
- We don't perform because we don't rehearse....
- We don't rehearse because we don't practice....
- We don't practice because....
Each of us has their own answer to the last because. We have blocks, distractions, obligations and a myriad of reasons for not showing up. Showing up is the difference between the magician and the hobbyist or enthusiast. I know I don't show up as I want or need to as I let the urgent override the important and the trivialities and bright shiny things be distractions.
Sometimes it's about sacrifice, sometimes it's about committing, sometimes it's about commitments to our commitments....
Maybe if we just show up and do a little everyday, we'll overcome our individual blocks.

This is very apropos to me, right now. "What's stopping me" is a question I'm having a surprisingly hard time answering.
Sometimes, it is something that actually is stopping me; illness, for example. But sometimes, it's just... well, I guess I just actually want to do something other than the thing that I say I want to do. So when that happens, what's stopping me is... choice.
It's so much easier to blame something else, though, isn't it?
